Some
Basic Facts About Texas Maternity Coverage
1. There
is no such thing as Maternity Insurance. We use
the name in our web site heading because that is what you
typically search for. But we do have plans that will cover maternity expenses, so
read on.
2. Maternity
Rider - Some health insurance plans have an optional
maternity rider. These riders can be very expensive, usually
limit the amount they will cover and make you wait 12 months
from the day you take the plan until you can become pregnant.
We have a maternity rider with a 90 wait before you can become pregnant, instead of waiting 12 months.
You can obtain a full major medical PPO plan with a maternity rider. The rider is relatively inexpensive and adds about $50 or so to the cost of the plan. It has its own separate deductible of $5,000 and then covers all maternity expenses 100%. Compared to the other riders that can cost $250 a month or more and make you wait 12 months, this is a bargain. In other words, it limits your cost to have a baby to $5,000.
3. Limited Benefit
Health Insurance - These plans are limited in coverage, but they will cover maternity the same as any other illness.
We have a limited benefit health insurance plan that will pay out for maternity expenses in the same fashion as it pays out for everything else. The plan has no waiting periods at all and no medical questions. It will not cover all of your expenses, but it will cover a large portion of them.
